Public Opinion in British Columbia
In November 2004, a panel appointed by the federal government
reported the results of a public review, which involved submissions
from approximately 3,700 people. These results showed 75 percent
of participants support maintaining the moratorium to prevent
oil and gas exploration and drilling in Canada’s Pacific
Ocean. This finding is in line with a poll carried out by
Synovate Research that found 69 percent of British Columbians
support maintaining the moratorium.
